The Will of the late elder statesman and former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has sparked conversations after it was revealed that his wife, Lolo Frances Iwuanyanwu, is barred from remarrying. The Will, publicly released on Sunday, June 16, 2025, outlines extensive property distributions but includes a firm condition: should Lolo Frances remarry, she would forfeit all the assets bequeathed to her.

According to the Will, administered by Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru (SAN), Lolo Frances is the sole inheritor of the family’s “Legacy House” located on Port Harcourt Road in Owerri, with the caveat that the property must never be sold. She was also granted ownership of Magil Furniture, a business formerly overseen by Iwuanyanwu’s first wife, Eudora, as well as partial rights to real estate assets in Orji, Works Layout, and Naze in Imo State. “These gifts are hers in trust, contingent upon her remaining unmarried,” Chief Ekomaru emphasized during a reading of the document.

Their son inherits the family’s Abuja residence, while the London home is designated for sale. The proceeds are to be divided, with 60% allocated for the education of Iwuanyanwu’s youngest son, 30% to his first son, Jide, and 10% to Ezinne, who currently lives in the London property. “My father thought of everyone, even beyond death,” Jide Iwuanyanwu stated. “The allocations reflect both his values and the needs of each member of the family.”

In a remarkable gesture of philanthropy, the Will also mandates the conversion of the “Glass House,” a prominent structure near the Orji flyover, into a public trust. The facility will be managed by an independent board and dedicated to charitable and community development efforts. “This was a lifelong dream of our father – to give back in a structured, enduring way,” said one of his daughters, who preferred not to be named.

Other valuable assets, including properties spread across Abuja, Imo, and other parts of Nigeria, were equitably distributed among his five children. In a joint statement, the children expressed their gratitude and admiration for their father’s foresight. “He has once again demonstrated fairness, honor, and clarity of purpose. His legacy lives on not only through his works but also through this carefully considered Will,” the statement read. GMTNewsng
