~ Says Viral Clip is an Old Footage, Blames Political Detractors

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has reacted to a now-viral video in which his daughter, Jane Eddidiong Ufot, made emotional and disturbing allegations concerning the death of her mother and former First Lady of the state, Patience Umo, who passed away on September 26, 2024.

In the video, which recently resurfaced on social media, Jane, identified herself as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Health, Safety and Environment, and appeared visibly distressed. Addressing the Governor directly, she said:

“My name is Jane Eddidiong Ufot, SSA to the Governor on Health, Safety and Environment. Daddy, I’m sending this post to you alone. Please, let’s talk before this destroys everything. I am not a sacrifice. Mummy was – I’m not. I give you a few minutes. If you don’t act, I’ll post this everywhere.”

A second video shows Jane speaking to her young daughter, urging her to repeat a chilling statement. The child is heard saying:

“Tell Grandpa, ‘Do you want them to kill us? Do you want us to die like my baby brother died?’”

To which Jane added:

“If I die today, or if my daughter dies – Agimini – if we die because God is exposing the truth, so be it. But my blood will not go in vain. Please listen to this – I’m more interested in staying alive.”

Responding to reporters on Saturday, May 31, Governor Eno confirmed that the footage was recorded shortly after the passing of his wife last year. He dismissed the video’s sudden reappearance as politically motivated.

“That video is not new,” the Governor said. “It was made in the heat of grief, following the unfortunate loss of my dear wife. Those who are trying to recycle it now are doing so to score cheap political points.”

Governor Eno urged the public to disregard the content and timing of the video, which he described as “deeply personal and painful,” and called for privacy and understanding during what he said was a family healing process.
