Nkanu West Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. John Chukwuma Ogbodo, has hailed the transformation of the transportation sector in Enugu State by Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, describing it as truly “disruptive innovation” that is set to revolutionize the way residents commute. The commendation came during the council’s monthly prayer session held at the council headquarters in Agbani.

“We want to thank our governor in a special way,” Ogbodo said. “He has transformed Enugu State. The transport sector is looking up with the delivery of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses and electric-powered taxis. No doubt, when fully operational, this will drastically reduce transportation fares and make commuting more pleasurable for our people.”

According to a statement released by the council’s media office, the chairman emphasized that the groundbreaking transport initiative is already giving hope to the people and will go a long way in reducing the financial pressure on households. He noted that such innovation aligns with Governor Mbah’s broader vision of modern governance and sustainable development.

Turning to internal affairs, Hon. Ogbodo urged council workers to be more committed to their duties, warning against habitual lateness to work. “Let us all be punctual and dedicated to our responsibilities. That is how we can justify our pay and contribute meaningfully to the progress of our local government,” he said. He further reminded workers of the importance of prayer, calling it “the master key” that strengthens the bond between people and God.

The prayer session featured a homily by Rev. Fr. Calistus Chidera Anih from St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Ngwo, who reflected on John 12:1-11. The cleric encouraged congregants to maintain hope and patience, assuring them that God, who remembered Hon. Ogbodo with the gift of leadership, will also remember others in due time. Fr. Anih also emphasized the importance of supporting those in power to enable them to fulfill their mandates.

Special prayers were offered for protection, forgiveness, and against untimely death. The late Mr. Peter Ogbodo, a staff member of the council who passed away recently, was remembered in prayer for the peaceful repose of his soul. Present at the prayer session were the Deputy Chairman, Hon. Engr. Friday Nnam; Leader of the Legislature, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Nnamani; Chief of Staff, Barr. Chidi Anih; and other top government functionaries and supervisors. GMTNewsng
