…As Labour Party Candidate Appeals for Continued Backing in Enugu State House of Assembly Rerun Election
The campaign of Bright Emeka Ngene, a dynamic legal practitioner and incumbent representative for Enugu South Urban constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, this morning, issued a heartfelt appeal to supporters and electorates ahead of the upcoming rerun election scheduled for Saturday, February 3, 2024. The rerun follows a court order by the election appeal tribunal, responding to a petition filed by Ngene’s opponent in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sam Ngene, challenging certain votes cast during the previous election.
In the election held on March 18, 2023, Bright Ngene secured a substantial victory with 5,876 votes, while his opponent, Sam Ngene, garnered only 209 votes. However, the number of votes in dispute in the area stands at 4,257, prompting the need for a rerun to resolve the issue and ensure electoral fairness.
As Bright Ngene, known for his dedication to the people and his pro-bono legal services to those in need, humbly requests the affected voters to reaffirm their support by casting their ballots for him under the Labour Party’s (LP) banner.

Expressing confidence in the electorate’s discernment, Obinna Barry Ani popularly known as Barry Nwankanu, the leader of Bright Ngene’s campaign, emphasizes the importance of voting wisely for Labour Party and Honorable Bright Emeka Ngene, highlighting his track record of service and trustworthiness.
“We believe in the wisdom of our constituents to recognize the dedication and integrity that Bright Ngene brings to the table,” stated the campaign organization. “Let us all come out on that day to give a final seal of approval to the mandate freely given to our able representative in the house of assembly.”
The rerun election, slated to take place across eight polling units at Uwani Secondary School and Robinson Street Primary School, presents an opportunity for constituents to reaffirm their choice for representation in the State House of Assembly.
In a final plea to voters, Bright Ngene’s campaign urges unity and solidarity in ensuring a resounding victory for the Labour Party, emphasizing the importance of securing a mandate that truly reflects the will of the people.

As voters prepare to head to the polls, considerations about the integrity of the electoral process and the future direction of Enugu South Urban weigh heavily on their minds. With the spotlight on this crucial rerun election, most constituents are saying that the rerun election should uphold the will of the people as expressed in March 2023. They are optimistic that Bright Ngene will secure another decisive victory.
Mr. Chinwuba Ngwu, Chairman of Labour Party, Enugu South Local Government Area, encourages everyone: “Let your voices be heard on February 3rd. Vote for progress, vote for integrity, vote for Bright Ngene and the Labour Party. Together, let’s shape a brighter future for Enugu South Urban.” Gmtnewsng.com
