Enugu, Nigeria – The abduction of Dr. Inechi MacDonald, a consultant psychiatrist working at FMC Owerri, has sparked a pressing call for action from the Enugu State government. Dr. MacDonald was taken captive on Sunday, Oct 8, around 9pm while on his way to his residence in New GRA Trans Ekulu, Enugu.

Witnesses report that the kidnapping occurred near Bar Ikpeama junction in New GRA, Trans Ekulu, sending shockwaves throughout the community and raising concerns regarding the safety and security of Enugu residents.
In response to this distressing incident, Dr. Celestine Ugwoke, Chairman of the Enugu State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), visited Dr. MacDonald’s family to extend support and discuss strategies for securing his safe and prompt release.
According to Dr. MacDonald’s wife, the family was ambushed by armed kidnappers traveling in a minibus. They forced Dr. MacDonald’s wife and children out of their vehicle before forcibly taking him away. Their desperate attempts to alert nearby vigilantes were in vain. Dr. MacDonald’s abandoned car was later discovered in Ibagwa Nike.
The NMA Enugu State Chairman, in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies, has responded swiftly to the incident. The chairman visited the scene of the abduction and contacted relevant security agencies for their assistance. Additionally, the NMA Chairman of Imo State has been fully briefed on the matter.
As of now, the kidnappers have made no contact and Dr. MacDonald’s family remains in a state of agonizing uncertainty.
