Enugu 2023: Johnpaul Anih promises Nkanu West State Constituency robust representation
Labour Party House of Assembly candidate for Nkanu West Constituency in the 2023 general elections in Enugu state, Mr. Johnpaul Anih has said that going by what is on ground presently next year’s election is between the corrupt ruling class and the ordinary people whose yesterday was stolen, today is being squandered and future already mortgaged.
“We cannot afford to make another mistake in 2023 as Labour Party has come to change the game” he asserted.
This is contained in a Press Release issued recently by the Johnpaul Anih Campaign.
JohnPaul Anih
The Campaign stated that for 12 years now, Ndi Nkanu West have been like people without a voice in the State House of Assembly as not even a single bill was sponsored by her representative, no visible project, absolutely nothing, adding that such ineffective representation was what Johnpaul Anih of the Labour Party will address because according to him, “Nkanu West cannot afford to waste another four years”.
He stressed that a more worrisome aspect of the entire charade was that the people who are consistently shortchanged by the PDP were the ones clapping and venerating the men who impoverished and recked their future.
“Of course, they have been in hibernation and have now resurfaced as another election cycle has come and started parading themselves, appearing sanctimonious only on the face of the television and giving our people false hope and another empty promises. Never again”.
The release further stated that the 2023 election cycle would be another opportunity that “we must speak with our votes and no amount of intimidation, threat, falsehood, thuggery, violence, brutality, bloodshed or bullying shall stop us”.
Continuing, the press statement quoted JohnPaul as saying: “The upcoming election is a referendum on the 24 years of PDP in Enugu state, 8 years of APC in Abuja and the assessment of the OBIdient movement. Let no one deceive you. The very essence of leadership is to give direction propelled by vision anchored on improving the lives and welfare of the people. We shall to try a new platform whose leader will be a role model. Labour Party is the vehicle to a new, prosperous and better Nkanu West Constituency, Enugu State and Nigeria”.
Stressing on what he will do differently, he said: “Through legislation and effective oversight, we will improve the standard of living and general wellbeing of our people. If elected, I will use this office to facilitate collaboration with the executive arm of government to bring about infrastructural development and economic empowerment.
“I will sponsor, co-sponsor relevant bills and motions, as well as push for the enactment of legislation that engenders welfarism which will bring prosperity to the great people of Nkanu West. Power has only one duty, which is to secure the social welfare of the people. For me, the wellbeing of our people is paramount. We have done it in the past given the availability of resources, we can do it again and even better.
Relying on his past records, he said:
“In 2021, I flagged off my scholarship program known as “Johnpaul Education Support Scheme”. We took off by awarding over Seventy-Five indigent students drawn from various secondary Schools in the local government with fully funded scholarship package.
“I attracted two solar powered boreholes with eighteen panels each to my local government.
“Through my recommendation, over ten youths from my local government secured civil service jobs. As part of efforts to promoting the acquisition of education, I sponsored the WAEC and NECO fees of some indigent students from the local government. I pushed for, and revamped the near moribund Daily Star newspaper by building a functional online media section ‘Daily Star Online News’ in the establishment.
“During the covid19 pandemic, I distributed relief materials to my people as part of efforts to cushioning the effects of the pandemic amongst others”, he concluded. GMTNews
