Ahead of the 2023 general election, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has met with the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi.
Ortom, a governor who defected from APC to the PDP before the 2019 general elections, said he was open minded when it came to presidential candidates, not minding party affiliation.
He insisted that there was nothing wrong in meeting with Obi to seek solution to Nigeria’s protracted problems, noting that he was free to receive any presidential candidate.
“I am open minded about receiving any presidential candidate regardless of party affiliation.
“I did nothing wrong by attending the meeting with Peter Obi in Port Harcourt. At the end, (the) solution to the unending challenges of Nigeria is what matters. Where we are today calls for all hands to be on deck.
“I am free to receive any candidate who comes visiting or seeking audience with me. I cannot say no when such request comes”. Ortom said. GMTNews
