…Distribution of nonsensitive materials begins

Baring any unforseen circumstance, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, will on Saturday, November 6, 2021 conduct an off season election to elect the next governor to take over from Willy Obiano of Anambra State, next year.

In line with adequate preparations for the exercise, the electoral umpire today started accreditation credible media organizations that would cover the election.

The screening is taking place at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Press Centre Awka had several journalists from different media organizations take part in today’s exercise.

Accredited media representatives were advised to exhibit professionalism and strictly apply themselves to the rules guiding the conduct of the election.

The Nigeria Television Authority NTA, GMTNews online, Anambra Broadcasting Service ABS, Radio Nigeria Purity FM, Orient Radio among others.

Eligible voters in Anambra State are advised not to pay heed to fake news mongers who are going about concocting lies about disturbances in some parts of the state including killing of INEC staff, which are all untrue, and aimed at instilling fear among the electorate to cause voter apathy.

Ndi Anambra are called upon to come en-masse on Saturday to vote for the candidate of their choice without any fear of molestation, as government has provided adequate to guarantee the safety of everyone.

Meanwhile the INEC National Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, has arrived Awka, the Anambra State Capital with a high powered delegation to oversee the conduct of the election.

Distribution of nonsensitive materials is also underway.

Anambra Nov. 6 governorship election is expected to be keenly contested by formidable candidates, some of whom include (in no particular order) Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of APGA, Chief Ben Etiaba of AA, Valentine Ozigbo of PDP, Senator Andy Uba of APC, Dr. Ifeanyi Uba of YPP, Chief Okonkwo of ZLP, Dr. Maduka of ADC and others.

Peace accord is expected to be signed by candidates of all the political parties participating in the election before the election. GMTNews
