Ndigbo under the auspices of Nzuko Ndigbo will honor the late Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu former Military Governor of old Imo and Lagos States respectively, and a member of the Supreme Military Council at one time.
The event which will hold at the Enugu Sports Club on Tuesday, October 12 2021 by 12 noon, will feature speeches, musical renditions, goodwill messages, tributes, cultural display and other side attractions.

Prominent personalities from Igbo-land and beyond who have been invited, are expected to grace the event.
Others expected at the occasion are Igbo organisations, civil society groups, military and naval colleagues, organizations from other parts of Nigeria, and well-wishers.
The Chairman of the local organising committee of the event and former spokesman of Ohanaeze ndigbo world wide Chuks Ibegbu called on all Igbos and Nigerians to attend the event.
Late Kanu who was 77 years old died in a Lagos hospital. His burial is scheduled to hold on Friday, Oct 16, 2021 at Ovim in Isiukwato LGA of Abia state.
Ndubuisi Kanu served as military govnor of old Imo state from March 1976 under the military administration of Olusegun Obasanjo.
It was Admiral Kanu that laid the master plan for Owerri the capital of Imo state. He also build roads in Owerri, and expanded the number of LGAs in the state to 21.
The present Imo Broadcasting Service that later became Imo Broadcasting Corporation, IBC was was established by him.
Kanu who was later transferred to Lagos State as military Governor of the state in 1977, ended his tenure in July 1978.
On retirement from the Army, he was known for his support for democracy. He was against military rule unlike other of his former colleagues in the army.
Kanu was among the army officers that supported that General Sani Abacha should vacate the seat of head of state during military government in Nigeria.
Kanu served as an officer under the United Nations Interim Force for Lebanon.
Ndubuisi Kanu was born in Ovim, Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia state in 1943.

He attended Methodist Primary School Enugu, and joined the Navy in 1962.
Kanu was married and had ten children.
It will be recalled that in recognition of his efforts in Lagos state, past Government in the state named Oregun Recreation Park after him. The park is called Ndubuisi Kanu Park Oregun Lagos.
Recently in a statement after his death, the incumbent Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said Kanu contributed so well to the development of Lagos State.
