Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministries Enugu Nigeria (AMEN), has been barred by the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, from meddling into partisan politics. This is coming after about a month retreat embarked upon by the fiery priest following the destructions at the Bishop’s court by adherents of the Adoration Ministry, due to Mbaka’s face off with some notable political figures in Nigeria.
The warning among others is contained in a “… directives and guidelines for the administration of Adoration Ministry…” issued by the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, His Lordship, Callistus C.V. Onaga.
The decree which names the Adoration Ministry as now a chaplaincy under the Diocese has Mbaka as the Chaplain. It further stated that the chaplain and members of the Adoration Ministry must abide by the teaching and discipline of the Catholic Church.
“The Adoration Ministry Enugu shall be administered and organized as a chaplaincy.
“Canonically, a chaplaincy is a special group of Christ’s faithful entrusted to a priest in a stable manner who is their chaplain in accordance with universal and particular law (c. 564). The Adoration Ministry Enugu is to be recognized as a chaplaincy in the Catholic Diocese of Enugu under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Camillus Ejike Mbaka.
Mbaka will no longer solely oversee the activities of the Ministry as its spiritual director, as making it chaplaincy, brings it under the full control of the Enugu Catholic Diocese and gives the Bishop the power to appoint a chaplain to oversee its operations.
“The Diocesan Bishop has the prerogative to appoint Chaplain and Assistant Chaplain to the Adoration Ministry Enugu or other such ministerial offices in the diocese to assist the chaplains oversee the pastoral activities of the Ministry. He (the chaplain) shall have all the rights and privileges given to him in universal and particular law.
Mbaka is barred from any form of political involvement, including prophecies and naming of individuals.
“There shall be no partisan politics either by way of active engagement or by prophetic naming of candidates for positions of power.
