Tinubu Celebrates Ex-IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu on Birthday as Nasarawa APC Endorses Him for 2027 Governorship

Abuja, Sept. 18, 2025 – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has congratulated former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, CFR, Walin Lafiya, on his birthday, which was marked on September 17, 2025.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commended the former police chief for his decades of service and steady leadership in ensuring law and order. He also highlighted Adamu’s role in modernising policing standards nationwide during his tenure as Nigeria’s 20th Inspector-General of Police.

Adding a political dimension to the celebration, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu has recently been endorsed by Nasarawa State APC stakeholders as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 general election. The endorsement, which came from party leaders, traditional rulers, and grassroots supporters, is seen as recognition of his integrity, leadership experience, and vision for development.

President Tinubu further acknowledged Adamu’s legacy of mentoring a new generation of police officers and strengthening the institutional capacity of the Nigeria Police Force. The President wished the former Inspector-General good health, renewed strength, and many more years of fulfilment, stressing that leadership is a lifelong calling that extends beyond active service into new frontiers of public trust.
