In an effort to ensure the smooth operation of their plants and substations, Aba Power Ltd recently conducted a training program on the Standard Protection Code (SPC) for 19 newly recruited Engineers and Technologists. These individuals have been designated as District Substation Operators (DSOs) and will be responsible for manning both the new injection substations as well as the existing ones.
According to Engr Livinus Nmaram, one of the Operations Team leaders at Aba Power, the purpose of this training program is to familiarize the new recruits with the requirements of their new position. “When we recruit new employees, we always make sure to organize workshops, inductions, and trainings to bring them up to speed and ensure they meet the company’s minimum standards,” he explained. “This way, we can ensure that they are well-prepared and capable of upholding the existing rules and regulations of the company.”
Engineers Calister Ihekandu and Ikechukwu Ibekwe, representing the trainee recruits, expressed their satisfaction with the training program and their commitment to contributing to the growth of Aba Power. “I thoroughly enjoyed the training and learned a lot of new things,” shared Engineer Calister Ihekandu. “I will do my best to utilize this knowledge and contribute towards the advancement of Aba Power.”

With this comprehensive training program, Aba Power Ltd demonstrates its commitment to ensuring that its newly recruited Engineers and Technologists are well-prepared for their roles as District Substation Operators. By imparting the necessary knowledge and instilling the company’s values, Aba Power aims to maintain a high level of operational efficiency and safety across all its plants and substations. GMTNews
