Emmanuel Nnamani, Executive Chairman, Enugu State Internal Revenue Service
Enugu State, November 28, 2023 – In a move aimed at fostering a collaborative effort for the betterment of Enugu State, the Executive Chairman of the Enugu State Internal Revenue Service, Emmanuel Ekene Nnamani, has announced a forthcoming series of road checks. These checks, primarily targeting motor vehicle owners, seek to ensure compliance with essential motor vehicle regulations.
Expressing the need for this initiative, Nnamani highlighted the alarming levels of non-compliance with crucial road tax rules. This includes issues such as the renewal of vehicle licenses, usage of expired or absent driving licenses, and the neglect of renewing vehicle particulars. Nnamani emphasized that driving with defaced vehicle plate numbers is a contributing factor, prompting the urgency for action.
“In our collective pursuit for a safer and more prosperous Enugu State, it’s crucial that we address these compliance issues head-on. The road checks are not just about enforcing regulations but building a partnership for the common good,” stated Nnamani.
Vehicles found in violation of these regulations during the upcoming road checks will face immediate impoundment. Nnamani stressed the importance of on-the-spot renewals, underlining the efficiency of this approach to reinforce compliance promptly.

To empower vehicle owners and prevent any potential inconvenience, Nnamani urged them to take proactive measures. “Visit the nearest Motor Licensing Office and update their vehicle particulars and driving licenses. Let’s see this as a partnership to create a safer and more vibrant Enugu State,” he remarked.
Beyond the immediate objective of ensuring compliance, Nnamani sees this initiative as a way for citizens to actively contribute to the state’s development. “Paying your road tax is not just a duty; it’s an investment in the Enugu State we dream of. Together, we can build a better future,” he added.
In conclusion, Nnamani called for unity in achieving the broader goal of a well-developed Enugu State. “This is a partnership between the government and the people. Let’s work together to make our roads safer, our state prosperous, and our dream for Enugu a reality,” he asserted. GMTNews
