In the exercise of his constitutional authority and in the public interest, President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, has swiftly approved the dissolution of the governing boards of all federal government parastatals, agencies, institutions, and government-owned companies.

This is according to a release by Willie Bassey, Director of Information in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

“It should be noted” continued the release, “that the dissolution of boards as approved by President Tinubu, GCFR, excludes the boards, commissions, and councils listed in the Third Schedule, Part 1, Section 153 (i) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended”.

Following this announcement, “the Chief Executive Officers of the affected Parastatals, Agencies, Institutions, and Government-Owned Companies are instructed to forward all matters that require the Boards’ attention to the President through their respective supervisory Ministries and Offices’ Permanent Secretaries until new boards are constituted.

“Additionally, the Permanent Secretaries are required to channel such correspondences to Mr. President’s attention through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. As a result, all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies must comply with this directive, which became effective on Friday, June 16, 2023”.

This directive is particularly aimed at Permanent Secretaries, who are further instructed to inform the Chief Executive Officers of the affected Agencies under their respective Ministries/Offices’ supervision to ensure immediate compliance. GMTNews
