Nkanu West APC campaign visits Obuofia, Umueze and Obe as John Ogbodo, stakeholders and traditional rulers mobilise ahead of September 26 polls.
The Nkanu West APC campaign on Wednesday took its ward-to-ward mobilisation to Obuofia, Umueze and Obe, drawing a large turnout of residents, supporters, party faithful and community stakeholders who received the campaign team led by the Executive Chairman of Nkanu West Local Government Area and APC chairmanship candidate, Hon. John Chukwuma Ogbodo.
The mobilisation came as political parties intensify engagements with communities ahead of the September 26, 2026 council elections, with Ogbodo featuring prominently in the APC’s campaign for continuity at the local-government level. The party has been taking its message beyond central rallies into individual wards as part of its ongoing grassroots campaign across Nkanu West.
A recurring thread in the campaign has been the effort to connect Governor Peter Mbah’s development agenda at the state level with grassroots leadership in Nkanu West. At the three communities visited on Wednesday by the Nkanu West APC Campaign, that connection formed part of the broader political narrative around the APC campaign, with Ogbodo’s candidacy presented by party stakeholders as part of a local-government structure through which continuity and grassroots development are being pursued. This remains a campaign position rather than an independently established assessment of the relationship between the two levels of government.
Among those who reaffirmed support for Ogbodo and the APC candidates was USA Igwesi, former member of the National Assembly and an aide to Governor Peter Mbah. His participation gave added prominence to the campaign’s effort to place the Nkanu West contest within the wider political and development conversation surrounding the Mbah administration, while his intervention was also part of the stakeholders’ renewed endorsement of the APC candidates across the three wards.
Also lending their voices to the mobilisation were Onochie John Igwesi, Esq., Secretary to Nkanu West Local Government Council; Chief Mike Onu; Chief Andy Ngene; Chidi Ani, Esq., Chief of Staff to the Nkanu West Chairman; and Hon. Raymond Nnamani. Their interventions reaffirmed support for Ogbodo and the APC candidates in the September 26 council polls, adding a layer of political and community backing to the campaign’s ward-level engagements without diminishing the choice that ultimately rests with voters.
Traditional and community leadership was also visibly represented at the Obuofia engagement, with HRH Igwe Obiora Igwesi, Esq., and Igwe Felix Nwobodo Ani, alongside other traditional rulers and community leaders, participating in the reception. Their presence reflected the role traditionally played by community institutions in receiving political delegations and providing a forum for engagement between candidates, party representatives and residents during election campaigns.
For Ogbodo, the visits provided another opportunity to take his candidacy directly to the communities as the campaign enters its final phase. He is seeking another term on the APC platform, with Engr. Friday Nnam, his incumbent deputy from Agbani, on the ticket as running mate. The APC had earlier presented the joint ticket around continuity and broad community representation.
Across Obuofia, Umueze and Obe, the size of the gatherings and participation of residents, party members, traditional figures and other stakeholders gave the tour a strong grassroots character. Politically, the receptions provided the APC with another platform to make its case for Ogbodo and its councillorship candidates, while reinforcing the campaign narrative that links Mbah’s state-level development direction with Ogbodo’s local-government leadership. Similar themes have featured in recent APC campaign engagements in Akpugo, Ozalla and Akegbe Ugwu.
The latest tour forms part of the APC’s continuing ward-to-ward campaign schedule in Nkanu West as September 26 approaches, following earlier engagements in Agbani, Amurri, Amodu, Akpugo, Ozalla and Akegbe Ugwu.
