Anambra Police have rescued three kidnap victims, arrested 57 suspects and recovered 18 firearms and 43 rounds of ammunition in one month of security operations.
The Anambra State Police Command has rescued three kidnap victims and arrested 57 suspects in connection with kidnapping, armed robbery, cult-related violence, murder and other serious offences across the state.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra, Mr Nnanna Oji Ama, disclosed the command’s operational scorecard during a visit by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 13, Ukpo, Mr Miller Gajere Dantawye.
Ama said the command also recovered 18 assorted firearms and 43 rounds of ammunition during operations conducted over the past one month.
The command further destroyed a criminal camp, disrupting the activities of criminal networks operating within the state. The operational figures were independently reported by multiple news organisations covering the police briefing.
“The command has rescued three kidnapped victims and arrested 57 suspects in connection with kidnapping, armed robbery, cult-related violence, murder and other serious offences,” Ama said.
The Police Commissioner attributed the results to coordinated intelligence gathering, targeted tactical operations, strategic deployment and sustained pressure on identified criminal networks.
According to him, the achievements were recorded through the efforts of the command’s tactical units, Area Commands and divisional formations working alongside other security agencies and relevant stakeholders.
Ama said the command would sustain its offensive against criminal elements across Anambra.
He said the operational priorities would continue to focus on intelligence development, precision deployment, aggressive patrols, rapid response, disruption of criminal hideouts and sustained pressure on criminal networks.
The CP directed operational commanders and personnel to remain proactive, maintain heightened vigilance and continually adapt their deployment strategies in response to emerging crime patterns and intelligence.
He also reaffirmed the command’s determination to deny criminals freedom of action and ensure that Anambra remained hostile to kidnapping, armed robbery, cult violence and other forms of organised crime.
Responding, Dantawye commended the command and described the operational results as encouraging.
The AIG urged officers and men of the command to build on the gains through discipline, professionalism, courage, effective supervision and strict adherence to the rule of law.
He placed particular emphasis on intelligence gathering and utilisation, directing personnel to deepen intelligence networks, strengthen community engagement and promptly translate actionable information into operational interventions.
Dantawye also charged commanders to intensify operations against kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, drug-related offences and other violent crimes.
He stressed that all operations must be conducted professionally and lawfully, with due respect for human rights.
The AIG further emphasised the importance of public confidence, urging police personnel to maintain respectful and responsive engagement with members of the public.
According to him, credible intelligence and community cooperation remain critical to effective modern policing.
