The APC and members of Enugu’s organised private sector have commended Governor Peter Mbah’s achievements, describing his administration’s projects and reforms as remarkable and transformational.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, and members of the organised private sector have commended Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for what they described as remarkable achievements recorded by his administration across key sectors of the state.
The commendations came on Wednesday at the unveiling of the Compendium of Achievements of the Mbah Administration at the International Conference Centre, Enugu.
The compendium documents more than 10,000 milestones recorded by the administration across various sectors, including over 1,521 kilometres of constructed and reconstructed roads, more than 7,000 classrooms, 260 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres, Enugu Air, the New Enugu Smart City and the revamp of moribund state-owned assets.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy National Chairman of the APC, South, Dr. Ben Nwoye, said the achievements recorded by the Mbah administration demonstrated the knowledge, intelligence and capacity required to transform Enugu State.
Nwoye urged residents to carefully assess the administration’s performance as preparations continue for the 2027 governorship election.
He said the scale of development documented in the compendium showed that Mbah deserved another term to consolidate the projects and reforms initiated by his administration.
The APC chieftain also appealed to residents of Enugu North and Enugu West Senatorial Districts to support the continuation of the administration.
He argued that political succession in the state should respect its tradition of allowing governors to serve two terms.
Nwoye noted that former governors, including Chimaroke Nnamani, Sullivan Chime and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, each served two terms, stressing that Mbah should also be allowed to complete eight years in office.
He urged APC members and supporters to intensify grassroots mobilisation and ensure that the achievements of the administration were effectively communicated to the electorate.
Also speaking, the Enugu State APC Chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, said the party would use the achievements documented in the compendium as a major campaign tool ahead of future elections.
Chukwunweike said the performance of the Mbah administration had contributed to the party’s electoral successes, adding that the documented achievements would further strengthen the APC’s chances in subsequent elections.
He expressed confidence that the party would record another victory in the September 26 local government election.
Speaking on behalf of the organised private sector, an industrialist and Chairman of COPEN Group, Mr Ugo Chime, commended Mbah for what he described as the “powerful, disruptive and innovative work” being carried out by his administration.
Chime said the private sector had earlier identified Mbah as one of its own who was brought into government to deploy private-sector experience in governance.
He commended the governor, Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai, Secretary to the State Government Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, Chief of Staff Victor Udeh and other members of the administration for their sacrifices and commitment to the development of Enugu State.
Represented by Ossai, Mbah said the compendium was part of his administration’s commitment to accountability under the Citizens Charter, also known as Executive Order 001.
The governor said the charter, signed immediately after his administration assumed office on May 29, 2023, committed the government to accountability, traceability and transparency in the management of public resources.
Ossai said the unveiling was not merely the presentation of a publication but an opportunity for the government to account for its stewardship and explain how public resources had been deployed since the administration took office.
He explained that the compendium did not capture the entirety of the administration’s achievements because its documentation had a cut-off period, while projects and reforms were still ongoing.
According to him, the administration’s interventions in healthcare, education, infrastructure, agriculture, economic development and other sectors were designed to place Enugu on an irreversible path to greatness.
Earlier, Onyia said the administration had pursued a development philosophy anchored on vision, courage, discipline, purposeful execution and disruptive innovation.
He said the government had also implemented reforms in its fiscal and institutional architecture while sustaining investments in urban development, technology, youth and women empowerment, skills acquisition, social protection, tourism, environmental sustainability and community development.
The Mbah administration has consistently maintained that its development agenda is aimed at growing Enugu’s economy into a $30 billion economy and positioning the state as a preferred destination for investment, business, tourism and living.
Onyia said the administration’s ultimate objective remained improving the lives of residents, stressing that government projects and policies must translate into tangible benefits for communities and citizens.
The unveiling attracted political leaders, business leaders, traditional rulers, professionals, public servants and other stakeholders, with participants commending the scale and spread of the administration’s interventions across Enugu State.
