INEC says 1,906,390 PVCs have been collected by registered voters in Osun ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, representing 81.50 percent of registered voters.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says 1,906,390 registered voters in Osun State have collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, disclosed the figure in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday.
According to Haruna, the number of collected PVCs represents 81.50 per cent of the 2,339,233 registered voters in the state.
He said 432,843 registered voters, representing 18.50 per cent, had not collected their PVCs as of the latest update.
Haruna explained that the uncollected PVCs had been securely deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in line with the commission’s established procedures.
He added that voters whose cards were damaged, defaced or lost had been able to apply for replacement cards.
The national commissioner also disclosed that 6,101 voters had applied for and obtained printed downloadable copies of their voter cards.
INEC has published the number of collected PVCs for individual polling units on its official website to provide voters and other stakeholders with access to the relevant electoral information.
Haruna reassured political parties, civil society organisations, the media and voters that the commission was prepared to conduct a credible and transparent governorship election in Osun State.
The election is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, with the PVC collection figures providing an indication of the number of registered voters who have completed the card-collection requirement ahead of polling.
INEC’s latest update comes as political parties and their candidates intensify preparations for the closely watched governorship contest, with the commission urging voters to verify their polling-unit information and participate peacefully in the electoral process.
