Housing delivery has received a major boost as the Federal Government begins constructing 100 Renewed Hope Housing Units in every local government area to provide affordable homes for vulnerable Nigerians and victims of insecurity.

The Federal Government has commenced the construction of 100 Renewed Hope Housing Units in each of Nigeria’s 774 local government areas to provide affordable homes for vulnerable citizens, including victims of insecurity.

The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Enlightenment, Mr Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, disclosed this on Tuesday during an inspection of Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Renewed Hope City project in Janguza, Kano State.

According to Abdulaziz, the nationwide initiative, known as Tinubu Estate, is already underway and is designed to provide relief and improved living conditions for disadvantaged Nigerians.

“Apart from Phases 1 and 2 of the Renewed Hope City project, there are also 100 housing units per local government, which have commenced as Tinubu Estate.

“They are targeted at vulnerable groups, especially victims of insecurity and other disadvantaged persons in society.

“And this is being done across all local governments in Nigeria as we speak,” he said.

Speaking on the Renewed Hope City project, Abdulaziz said the initiative forms part of the Tinubu administration’s efforts to address Nigeria’s housing deficit while expanding access to affordable housing for workers and other citizens.

He noted that the project has already attracted significant interest, with housing allocations already made to beneficiaries.

According to him, the housing programme is one of several sustainable interventions aimed at improving the welfare of vulnerable Nigerians and addressing critical national development challenges.

Providing an update on construction, the Project Manager, Builder Awe Augustine-Babatunde, said Phase 1, comprising 325 housing units, has been completed.

He added that Phase 2, consisting of 698 housing units, is expected to be completed by August 2026.

Augustine-Babatunde disclosed that work on Phase 2 has reached 75 per cent completion, with about 426 housing units already constructed.

He further explained that the housing estate has been designed as a complete residential community, with supporting infrastructure including road networks, a school, a clinic and a playground to ensure a comfortable living environment for future residents.

The Federal Government says the Renewed Hope Housing Programme is part of its broader strategy to reduce the country’s housing deficit, improve access to affordable homes and enhance the quality of life for Nigerians, particularly vulnerable groups.
