President Bola Tinubu has sent a warm congratulatory message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, celebrating his historic milestone as India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his warmest congratulations to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, on his historic milestone of becoming the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India’s democratic history.
The significant milestone was officially reached on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, as Prime Minister Modi completed 4,399 consecutive days in office, surpassing the previous unbroken record of 4,398 days held by India’s first elected Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, from 1952 to 1964.
In an official statement issued from the State House on Wednesday, President Tinubu emphasized that this monumental achievement is a direct reflection of the enduring confidence, deep trust, and popularity that the people of India have reposed in Prime Minister Modi’s vision across three consecutive democratic mandates.
“This remarkable achievement reflects the enduring confidence and trust the people of India have reposed in his leadership over three consecutive mandates. His dedication to public service, commitment to national development, and influential leadership on the global stage continue to inspire millions worldwide,” President Tinubu stated.
President Tinubu spoke highly of the warm personal friendship and strong bilateral alliance he shares with the Indian leader. He noted that over the years of their diplomatic interactions, he has come to deeply admire Prime Minister Modi’s leadership wisdom, political courage, and unwavering commitment to driving the economic progress and social prosperity of his nation.
The diplomatic ties between Nigeria and India have experienced a robust resurgence under both administrations, marked by enhanced trade partnerships, technology exchanges, and mutual strategic cooperation.
The historic feat achieved by the Indian Prime Minister coincides with his National Democratic Alliance (NDA) administration completing 12 continuous years of governance since first taking the oath of office on May 26, 2014.
Prime Minister Modi’s administration has been globally recognized for lifting over 250 million citizens out of multidimensional poverty, spearheading a massive digital public infrastructure revolution, and positioning India as the world’s fastest-growing major economy.
On behalf of the Government and the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Tinubu wished Prime Minister Modi continued excellent health, profound wisdom, and sustained success as he guides the world’s largest democracy toward even greater socio-economic heights and global prominence.
