Ondo State Police and the Amotekun Corps have launched a coordinated rescue operation following the midnight abduction of a nine-year-old boy in Ose Local Government Area.

The Ondo State Police Command has launched an intensive, coordinated manhunt for a gang of heavily armed kidnappers who abducted a nine-year-old boy during a violent midnight raid at Ugbosi Quarters, Idogun, within the Ose Local Government Area.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the terrifying incident in an official statement released Friday in Akure, assuring the public that the state is deploying all available resources to secure the child’s release.

According to police briefs, the community was plunged into chaos at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Friday when a group of gunmen invaded the quarters, firing gunshots sporadically into the air to terrorize residents.

The assailants targeted the residence of a local citizen, Mr. Olaosebikan Isaac, forcing their way into his home. In a desperate bid to survive the onslaught, Isaac managed to escape into the nearby bush. However, his nine-year-old son, Master Olaosebikan Victor, was left behind and subsequently taken hostage by the armed gang.

During the same raid, the gunmen attacked the home of another resident, Mr. Joel Owalekan, severely damaging his property in an attempt to break in. Owalekan similarly managed to flee into the darkness to avoid harm. The incident was formally reported to local authorities at 2:30 a.m.

“Upon receipt of the distress report, the Divisional Police Officer and his men, in collaboration with the Amotekun Corps, immediately mobilized to the scene and launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation,” DSP Jimoh stated.

Tactical security teams are currently combing the dense forests and suspected escape routes surrounding the Ose axis. The state police command has already recovered and documented key exhibits from the crime scene to map out the tracking parameters.

To fortify the rescue perimeter, the police are working in close synergy with the Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun), sister security agencies, and local vigilante groups.

The command has urged the public to remain calm but vigilant, appealing to anyone with credible, actionable intelligence regarding the suspects or the location of young Victor to report immediately to the nearest security formation.
