Seeking to modernize criminal investigation procedures, the Imo State Police Command concludes an intensive financial and forensic training program for 300 field officers.
The Imo State Police Command has successfully trained 300 of its officers in modern forensic methodologies and advanced fraud investigation techniques. This intensive capacity-building initiative is geared toward bolstering the law enforcement agency’s overall institutional capacity and fast-tracking the continuous human capital development of its workforce.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, made the disclosure in an official media statement issued in Owerri on Sunday. Okoye noted that the comprehensive two-day workshop, which concluded on Saturday, directly keys into the ongoing, transformative police reforms spearheaded across the federation by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Olatunji Disu.
According to the command’s spokesperson, the program was meticulously designed to expand the officers’ knowledge of cutting-edge forensic tools, intelligence-led asset tracing, and modern investigative strategies required to curb the threat of cyber fraud, money laundering, and other sophisticated financial crimes.
The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Audu Bosso, while declaring the specialized training open, stressed that continuous educational advancement remains the most reliable mechanism for sharpening operational efficiency and perfecting public service delivery. He maintained that contemporary security threats demand that officers stay equipped with up-to-date scientific skills to remain ahead of transnational criminal syndicates.
The specialized training program integrated comprehensive lectures covering Anti-Money Laundering (AML) standards, Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) protocols, and structured collaboration frameworks with the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU).
Participants were taken through extensive practical modules on tracking illicit financial flows, mastering evidence handling in complex white-collar crimes, and enforcing inter-agency operational coordination.
On behalf of the command, Commissioner Bosso thanked IGP Olatunji Disu for prioritizing the strategic human capital growth of personnel. He also highly commended the Head of the Delegation from the Force Headquarters, Dr. Pearl Ogbulu, for her immense technical contributions toward refining the force’s investigative standards. Dr. Ogbulu, in her closing remarks, urged the participating officers to diligently apply their newly acquired skills on the field to elevate professional and ethical policing standards across Imo State.
