Speaking during the closing ceremony at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, USOSA President-General Michael Magaji said the event was organised to promote unity and strengthen relationships among members.

According to him, sports remains an important tool for nation-building and social cohesion.

He said the platform allows members from different backgrounds to come together, manage diversity, and demonstrate commitment to unity, teamwork, and excellence.

Magaji added that the association has consistently used sports and related activities to maintain relationships among alumni, some spanning over 30 to 50 years.

He explained that Enugu was selected to host the competition because members in the state showed readiness to organise the event.

The USOSA leader noted that the association rotates its programmes across different regions of the country in line with its national outlook.

Magaji also praised the Enugu State Government for investments in public education and smart schools, describing the state as a model for others.

He further said the association remains committed to giving back to society, particularly through support for the education sector.

According to him, former students who benefited from quality public education are now contributing to the transformation of that same system.

The USOSA Sports Carnival forms part of ongoing efforts to promote unity, healthy rivalry, and national integration among unity school alumni across Nigeria.
