The Nigerian Army has arrested 53 suspected criminals and extremist group members during coordinated security operations in Plateau State.

Troops under Operation Ensuring Peace, conducted targeted raids in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, including Angwan Yama and Kasua communities.

Nine suspects were arrested at a suspected drug hideout, with troops recovering quantities of suspected cannabis, mobile phones, power banks, and other items.

In a separate operation, troops of Sector 1, supported by Special Forces and the Department of State Services (DSS), arrested 44 suspected members of the Sara Suka group across Jos North Local Government Area.

Security operatives also recovered various weapons during the raids.

The army said troops also recovered four cattle stolen from Lugere community in Riyom Local Government Area and returned them to their owner, while efforts continue to track the rustlers.

Troops responding to communal clashes and suspected militia attacks in Taraba State and Benue State recovered two bodies and investigated armed confrontations.

One civilian who sustained gunshot injuries in Guma Local Government Area was evacuated to a hospital for treatment.

The army reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling criminal and extremist networks and protecting civilians across affected communities.
