Former lawmaker Eta Mbora defects from PDP to ADC in Cross River, citing internal crisis and shifting political alliances.
A former member of the House of Representatives, Eta Mbora, has joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing ongoing internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mbora, who represented Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency in the 9th Assembly, announced his defection on Thursday in Calabar.
He said the prolonged instability within the PDP had weakened the party, making his decision to leave unavoidable.
Despite his exit, Mbora expressed appreciation to the PDP for providing him opportunities to serve at the local, state, and national levels.
He also thanked his supporters for their loyalty over the years.
The former lawmaker urged his followers to join him in the ADC and participate in the party’s ongoing registration and revalidation exercise across their wards.
Mbora’s move is part of a broader shift in Cross River State politics ahead of the next election cycle.
His defection follows similar moves by prominent figures such as former governor Liyel Imoke and former senator Gershom Bassey, who have also aligned with the ADC.
Sources within the ADC revealed that plans are underway to host a reception rally in honour of Mbora and other new entrants into the party.
