The NSCDC has deployed 1,720 personnel across Enugu State to ensure a safe and peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1,720 personnel across Enugu State to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on March 18, 2026, by the NSCDC Public Relations Officer in the state, Pamela Chukwu.

According to Chukwu, the personnel have been stationed at Eid prayer grounds, markets, motor parks, recreational centres and other key public locations across the state.

She said the move is aimed at ensuring the safety of lives and property during the festive period.

The NSCDC said it has intensified intelligence gathering, surveillance operations and patrols across identified flashpoints.

“Tactical units, Area Commanders and Divisional Officers have been placed on high alert, while the Rapid Response Team has been positioned to respond swiftly to emergencies,” she said.

The corps also noted that it is collaborating with other security agencies to strengthen coordination and effectiveness.

The State Commandant, Elijah Willie, urged residents, particularly Muslim faithful, to celebrate peacefully and remain law-abiding.

He also encouraged members of the public to provide useful information to security agencies on any suspicious activity.

The Federal Government has declared March 19 and March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark the end of the Ramadan fasting period.

The NSCDC reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives, critical national assets and infrastructure before, during and after the celebrations.
