Mr. Inuwa Garba, representing Yamaltu-Deba Federal Constituency of Gombe State in the House of Representatives, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Garba formally presented his APC membership card, obtained from Lubo Ward in Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Area, to Governor Inuwa Yahaya on Thursday in Gombe.

The lawmaker described the move as a complete alignment with the ruling party at both state and national levels, marking what he called his full integration into the progressive fold.

Garba said his decision followed extensive consultations with political associates, supporters and community leaders across his constituency.

He cited Governor Yahaya’s leadership style and development-focused policies as key motivations for his switch. He also referenced the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu as further inspiration.

According to him, the APC offers a credible and stable platform capable of delivering sustainable growth and inclusive governance.

“The APC represents the future of progressive governance in Nigeria. I am convinced that under Governor Yahaya and President Tinubu, our people will continue to enjoy meaningful development,” Garba said.

He pledged loyalty to the party and assured constituents that his defection would attract increased federal presence and development projects to Yamaltu-Deba Federal Constituency.

Governor Yahaya welcomed the lawmaker into the APC, describing the defection as a significant endorsement of the party’s performance in the state.

He said the move reinforced confidence in his administration’s focus on infrastructure renewal, human capital development and economic diversification.

The governor added that the APC remains open to individuals committed to unity, growth and responsible governance, noting that the defection strengthens the party’s position ahead of future elections.
