An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday ordered the remand of a 30-year-old driver, Oluwaseun Opatola, at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre over an alleged rape case.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Omolara Kushanu, declined to take the defendant’s plea and directed that he remain in custody pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP). The matter was adjourned until March 15.

The defendant, who resides at 25 Leadway, Agbede, Ikorodu, Lagos, is facing a charge of rape.

According to the prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, the alleged offence occurred on December 16, 2025, at the premises of the Kosofe Local Government in Ogudu, Lagos.

The prosecutor told the court that the defendant allegedly approached the 23-year-old food vendor near the local government office and requested that she prepare noodles and egg and deliver the meal to his office.

He further alleged that after most staff had left the premises at the close of work, the defendant shut the office door and raped the victim.

The prosecution stated that the alleged offence contravenes Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The court ordered that the defendant be remanded at the correctional facility pending further legal advice from the DPP.
