The FRSC Ondo State Command has decorated 176 newly promoted officers and marshals, charging them to translate their new ranks into greater responsibility, professionalism and improved road safety service.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ondo State Sector Command, has decorated 176 newly promoted officers and marshals, charging them to translate their new ranks into greater responsibility, professionalism and improved service delivery.
The decoration ceremony was held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, in Akure, following the nationwide promotion of 7,472 FRSC personnel approved by the Corps. The national exercise comprised 2,134 officers and 5,338 marshals and was designed to reward merit, dedication, discipline and years of service.
Speaking at the Ondo ceremony, the Sector Commander, Dr Samuel Ibitoye, said 50 senior officers and 126 marshals were promoted across various ranks in the state.
Ibitoye urged the beneficiaries to regard their elevation not merely as career advancement but as a renewed responsibility to improve the effectiveness and service delivery of the Corps.
He said the promotion should translate into stronger road safety advocacy, enforcement, engineering audits and collaboration with members of the public to reduce road traffic crashes.
“To whom much is given, much is expected, so that the corps will have better performance, especially on the highways,” he said.
Among the senior officers promoted in Ondo State were five elevated from Chief Route Commander (CRC) to Assistant Corps Commander (ACC), while seven moved from Superintendent Route Commander (SRC) to CRC.
Seven Route Commanders were promoted to Superintendent Route Commanders, 18 Deputy Route Commanders advanced to Route Commanders, while 13 Assistant Route Commanders were elevated to Deputy Route Commanders.
In the marshals category, 126 personnel also received promotions across various ranks.
The beneficiaries included one Assistant Chief Inspector promoted to Deputy Chief Inspector; five Principal Marshal Inspectors to Assistant Chief Inspectors; five Senior Marshal Inspectors to Principal Marshal Inspectors; and eight Marshal Inspectors I to Senior Marshal Inspectors.
Others included 21 Marshal Inspectors II promoted to Marshal Inspectors I, 14 Marshal Inspectors III to Marshal Inspectors II, and 14 Deputy Chief Road Marshal Assistants to Chief Road Marshal Assistants.
Seven Senior Road Marshal Assistants were elevated to Deputy Road Marshal Assistants, 48 Road Marshal Assistants I to Senior Road Marshal Assistants, while three Road Marshal Assistants II moved to Road Marshal Assistants I.
The Ondo decoration formed part of a nationwide exercise scheduled between August 26 and 28, 2026, after FRSC management directed heads of departments, corps officers, special units and commanding officers to formally decorate personnel promoted in the recent exercise.
Ibitoye urged personnel who were not included in the promotion exercise not to be discouraged but to increase their dedication and performance.
He said the ultimate objective was to ensure that every member of the Corps contributed effectively to reducing highway crashes and improving operational efficiency.
A former FRSC Corps Commander, Michael Adigun, also advised the newly promoted personnel to maintain high performance, diligence and vigilance in assisting motorists.
He reminded them that continued career advancement would depend on hard work and consistent commitment to duty.
Speaking on behalf of the promoted personnel, Assistant Corps Commander Opeyemi Adigun expressed appreciation to the FRSC for recognising their dedication and commitment through the promotions.
He pledged the renewed commitment of the beneficiaries to the Corps and promised increased dedication to the service of humanity and the nation.
The decoration comes as the FRSC intensifies efforts to improve road safety nationwide, with the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, describing the recent promotions as both a reward for merit and a call to greater professionalism, accountability, leadership and service to the Nigerian motoring public.
The Corps expects the newly promoted personnel to use their elevated positions to strengthen road safety operations and contribute more effectively to reducing crashes and improving safety on Nigeria’s highways.
