President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on his victory in the Ekiti State governorship election, describing the outcome as a strong endorsement of his administration’s performance and leadership.

In a statement issued following Saturday’s election, the President commended the people of Ekiti State for their peaceful participation in the democratic process and for reposing their confidence in Governor Oyebanji through the ballot.

Tinubu also praised security agencies for maintaining law and order throughout the election, contributing to a peaceful and credible electoral exercise.

The President further urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to sustain efforts toward delivering peaceful, free, fair and credible elections ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August and the 2027 general elections.

With the outcome of the poll, Oyebanji becomes the first governor in the history of Ekiti State to secure back-to-back re-election victories, marking a significant milestone in the state’s political landscape.

President Tinubu noted that the governor’s first term was characterised by notable achievements in infrastructure development, agriculture, youth empowerment, education, healthcare and rural development under the BAO Agenda.

According to the President, the renewed mandate reflects the confidence of Ekiti residents in continuity, stability and governance focused on the welfare of the people.

He urged the governor to remain magnanimous in victory and continue to embrace all segments of the state’s population as he begins another term in office.

The President also commended other candidates who participated in the election, describing their involvement as an important contribution to Nigeria’s democratic process.

Tinubu stressed that the election had concluded and called on all stakeholders to unite behind Governor Oyebanji in the collective task of advancing development and improving governance in Ekiti State.

He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to working closely with the Ekiti State Government to deliver greater dividends of democracy and accelerate the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The President also prayed for wisdom, strength and good health for Governor Oyebanji as he continues to serve the people of Ekiti State during his second term in office.
