President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, on his 85th birthday, praising the revered traditional ruler for his contributions to national unity, community development and corporate leadership.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to the Obi of Onitsha, His Majesty Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, on the occasion of his 85th birthday, describing him as a distinguished traditional ruler and a symbol of unity, integrity and service.

In a goodwill message, the President paid tribute to the respected monarch’s enduring contributions to nation-building, community development and corporate leadership.

Tinubu noted that before ascending the throne of his forefathers, Igwe Achebe built an illustrious career in the corporate sector, serving as a director of Shell Petroleum Development Company in Nigeria and holding leadership positions in several Shell companies across the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Ghana, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, Liberia and Angola.

The President described the monarch as one of the most influential traditional rulers in the South-East and commended his role in promoting peace, youth empowerment and socio-economic development within Onitsha and beyond.

According to Tinubu, the traditional ruler has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership through initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of his people and fostering communal harmony.

The President particularly praised Igwe Achebe for his contributions to strengthening national cohesion and serving as an important bridge between government institutions and grassroots communities.

He also acknowledged the monarch’s decades of service in the fields of business, governance and public leadership, noting that his experience and wisdom continue to benefit both his community and the nation.
