The Senator-elect for Enugu North Senatorial District, Chief Ikeje Asogwa, has assured residents of quality, inclusive and people-centred representation following his victory in the June 20 by-election.
In a message of appreciation issued on Sunday, Asogwa described the outcome of the election as a strong expression of the confidence reposed in him by the people and a reflection of their shared aspiration for a more united and prosperous Enugu North Senatorial Zone.
The senator-elect expressed profound gratitude to voters across the six local government areas of the district, stating that the overwhelming support he received represents not only an electoral victory but also a solemn responsibility to serve with integrity, diligence and humility.
“The massive votes cast in my favour and that of our great party are not only a resounding mandate but also a clear demonstration of your belief in our shared vision for a greater, more prosperous and more inclusive Enugu North Senatorial Zone,” Asogwa said.
He thanked residents for their solidarity, prayers, endorsements and sacrifices throughout the campaign, noting that their unwavering support culminated in what he described as a historic electoral success.
Asogwa also paid tribute to Governor Peter Mbah, whom he described as a leader and mentor, commending the governor’s commitment to peace, unity and development, which he said inspired confidence among voters across the district.
The senator-elect further acknowledged the contributions of Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai, party leaders, local government chairmen, stakeholders, traditional rulers and religious leaders for their roles in the successful outcome of the election.
He also congratulated fellow contestants in the by-election, describing their participation as a valuable contribution to democratic development and political engagement within the district.
Calling for unity after the election, Asogwa urged political actors and residents to set aside partisan differences and work collectively toward the development of Enugu North.
“There is no victor and no vanquished; the true winner is Enugu North Senatorial Zone,” he stated.
The senator-elect dedicated his victory to the resilient people of the district and paid tribute to the late Senator Okey Ezea, describing him as a worthy son of Enugu North who served the people with dedication until his death.
According to Asogwa, the election victory marks an important milestone for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the district and provides a strong foundation for greater achievements in the years ahead.
Acknowledging the expectations that come with his election, he pledged to provide effective legislative representation, attract meaningful development projects, protect the interests of constituents and ensure that the benefits of democracy reach every community in the senatorial zone.
He reaffirmed his commitment to building a stronger, more united and prosperous Enugu North through responsive leadership, inclusive governance and sustained engagement with the people.
