Convening top private-sector actors and federal regulators at Hotel Presidential, Enugu, the Mbah administration pledges to translate stakeholder feedback into actionable policies to boost regional ease of doing business.

The Enugu State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to creating a more business-friendly environment as it hosted the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) Nationwide Townhall and Stakeholders Engagement aimed at accelerating economic reforms and attracting investments into the state.

The engagement, held at Hotel Presidential, Enugu, brought together representatives of the organised private sector, investors, business associations, development partners and government agencies to review ongoing reforms, identify regulatory challenges and develop practical solutions to enhance the ease of doing business across the state.

Speaking during the event, the Commissioner for Trade, Investment and Industry, Dr. Sam Ogbu-Nwobodo, said the administration of Governor Peter Mbah remained committed to translating stakeholders’ recommendations into actionable policies that would strengthen the state’s investment climate. He noted that the government’s economic vision was firmly anchored on building a $30 billion economy through strategic reforms and private-sector-driven growth.

“All recommendations from the Organised Private Sector will be carefully documented and transformed into concrete policy actions that will improve the business environment and support enterprise growth in Enugu State,” Ogbu-Nwobodo stated.

Also addressing participants, the Managing Director of the Enugu State Investment Development Authority (ESIDA), Dr. Kenechukwu Nnamani, emphasized the importance of institutional efficiency, digital innovation and sustained stakeholder engagement in building a competitive investment destination. According to him, the state government remains focused on fostering an ecosystem that encourages investment, job creation and economic expansion.

On behalf of PEBEC, the delegation leader, Mr. Gabriel Ohiemi, commended stakeholders for their active participation and urged members of the organised private sector to openly share their experiences and concerns. “Feedback from businesses remains critical to shaping reforms that will improve Nigeria’s business environment and enhance the country’s global competitiveness,” he said.

Representatives of key private sector bodies, including the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA), the Nsukka Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, the 9th Mile Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, and COPEN Group, praised the Enugu State Government for implementing business-enabling reforms and creating platforms for productive public-private dialogue. They noted that such engagements would help unlock greater investment opportunities and remove barriers to enterprise development.

The development is contained in a press release jointly issued by the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Industry and the Enugu State Investment Development Authority (ESIDA), signed by Lucy Harry-Enwu and made available to this publication. The statement noted that the townhall forms part of PEBEC’s nationwide stakeholder engagement initiative designed to strengthen public-private collaboration, identify reform priorities and accelerate interventions that improve Nigeria’s business environment and economic competitiveness.
