Adeleke Dismisses School Kidnapping Rumours, Assures Firm Security Response

Adeleke

Ademola Adeleke has dismissed reports of alleged kidnapping incidents in schools across Osun, describing the claims as false and assuring residents of strengthened security measures.

Governor Ademola Adeleke has dismissed rumours of alleged school kidnappings in parts of Osun, describing the reports as fake and aimed at creating panic among residents.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Osogbo by his spokesperson, Malam Olawale Rasheed, the governor assured residents that the state government had taken proactive steps to strengthen security around schools.

Adeleke described the reported kidnapping incidents as the handiwork of mischief-makers, noting that investigations and fact-checks carried out in border communities and other parts of the state confirmed that no such incidents had occurred.

The governor urged residents to remain calm and continue their daily activities without fear. According to him, the Ministry of Education, working with security agencies, has developed and is implementing a comprehensive strategy to safeguard schools and protect students.

Adeleke stressed that the rumours were false and deliberately designed to create fear and destabilise the state.

He reassured parents and guardians that the government remained committed to ensuring the safety of pupils and educational institutions across Osun.

The governor also gave an update on the status of Armoured Personnel Carriers inherited from the previous administration, stating that the vehicles had been fully refurbished and were ready for deployment.

According to Adeleke, the armoured vehicles were abandoned in poor condition but have now been rehabilitated to support joint security operations across the state.

He said the renewed security assets would soon strengthen the state’s security architecture and improve efforts to protect lives and property.

Adeleke further warned against actions capable of encouraging criminal activity, adding that intelligence networks were actively monitoring border communities and identified hotspots.

He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to maintain security across the state, insisting that every necessary measure would be taken to protect schools, residents, and public property.
