President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his warm congratulations to Rangers International FC following their magnificent triumph in securing the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title for a record-equaling ninth time.

In an official executive statement released by the State House, the President highly commended the management, technical staff, players, and the passionate global fanbase of the Enugu-based football club for their resilience.

The “Flying Antelopes” concluded their grueling 38-match domestic campaign at the absolute summit of the league table, amassing 68 points to narrowly edge out their closest title rivals, Rivers United FC, who finished as close runners-up with 67 points.

Reflecting deeply on the club’s rich historical timeline, President Tinubu fondly recalled the legendary run of the Enugu Rangers during the golden eras of the 1970s and 1980s.

During those decades, the iconic club dominated the landscape by capturing multiple league titles and FA Cups. He specifically spotlighted their historic continental milestones, including reaching the finals of the African Cup of Champions Clubs in 1975 and spectacularly winning the prestigious African Cup Winners’ Cup in 1977.

The President described this latest trophy as a continuation of that proud heritage, recognizing it as a massive achievement that enriches the history of Nigerian sports.

“I must also congratulate Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State on the victory of Rangers International FC. This victory is an obvious fruit of his administration’s investments in youth and sports in the state. I commend him. As one of the oldest clubs in Nigeria, Rangers have produced some of the nation’s finest football players who went on to make the country proud on the global stage. I am proud of their achievement,” the President stated.

In the same vein, President Tinubu highly commended Rivers United FC for delivering an excellent, highly competitive performance throughout the entire tournament. He praised the Port Harcourt-based side for demonstrating exceptional sportsmanship and fighting hard until the very last kick of the season.

Looking forward to the upcoming continental football calendar, the Commander-in-Chief wished both Rangers International and Rivers United the absolute best of luck as they prepare to fly the green-white-green flag and represent Nigeria in next season’s prestigious CAF Champions League tournament.
