Governor Peter Mbah spearheads a technology revolution as the Enugu State Housing Development Corporation launches a full digitization drive to accelerate C-of-O issuance.
The Enugu State Government has successfully launched a fully digitized land transaction and documentation system for the Enugu State Housing Development Corporation (ESHDC) as part of Governor Peter Mbah’s aggressive reforms aimed at promoting absolute transparency, accountability, and investor confidence in the state’s land administration sector.
The critical technology initiative, officially unveiled during the commissioning of the corporation’s modernized office operations and workflow system in Enugu, is expected to completely revolutionize real estate documentation, payment processing, records management, and the rapid issuance of Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O), effectively eliminating the frustrating delays and irregularities long associated with manual procedures.
Speaking at the high-profile event, Governor Mbah, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, stressed that the digitization project reflects a demonstrable commitment to building a modern, tech-driven public service architecture that will enable residents and property investors to verify documents electronically, conduct effortless land searches, and confidently use titles as financial collateral.
Backing the initiative, the Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Barr. Chimaobi Okorie, explained that the exercise is an offshoot of the administration’s campaign promises and the foundational Enugu State Geographic Information Systems (ENGIS) Law, ensuring that the commercial housing arm of government perfectly aligns with the high digital standards already being enforced across the state.
This operational upgrade guarantees maximum document security, eliminates missing files, boosts internally generated revenue, and actively encourages private sector participation to bridge the regional housing deficit. Echoing this sentiment, the Special Adviser to the Governor on ICT, Nnaemeka Ani, celebrated Enugu’s rapid rise as Nigeria’s center of e-governance, while the Senior Special Assistant on Revenue, Adenike Okebu, who meticulously coordinated the transition framework through rigorous digital and financial audits, praised the governor for providing the robust infrastructure.
Concluding the milestone ceremony, the Director of Administration of the ESHDC, Precious Nnaji, hailed the historic shift as an institutional breakthrough that goes far beyond simple technology, transforming the corporation into a faster, highly responsive entity capable of meeting the growing housing and administrative needs of the people.
