Anambra Police Crack Down On Unruly Officer Following Shocking Viral Threat Video

Anambra

Triggered by a viral video showing a policeman threatening citizens, the Anambra State Police Command initiates strict disciplinary actions and subjects the officer to a drug test.

The Anambra State Police Command has swiftly arrested an officer captured in a viral social media video threatening violence and engaging in conduct completely unbecoming of a law enforcement agent.

Following a prompt and thorough review of the online footage, the command immediately identified and detained the individual, who was revealed to be Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Newton Isokpehi, currently serving under the state command.

In strict accordance with the ethical codes and high institutional standards of the Nigeria Police Force, internal disciplinary proceedings have been aggressively activated against him. As a critical component of the ongoing investigation, the command has also subjected the embattled ASP to a comprehensive drug test to help investigators uncover all surrounding circumstances and maintain a completely transparent process.

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, strongly condemned the erratic behavior displayed by the officer, reiterating that the police force remains a deeply disciplined institution with zero tolerance for misconduct, abuse of office, incitement, or any form of unprofessionalism capable of eroding hard-earned public trust.

In a statement issued on behalf of the CP by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, DCP Ngozi Ezeabata, the command assured the general public and the people of Anambra that the final outcome of the formal disciplinary panel will be made public, promising that any culpable operative will face severe statutory sanctions.

While reminding its officers and men to remain respectful, professional, and emotionally balanced under intense public scrutiny, the command warmly appreciated the civil society groups and proactive social media users who continuously supply credible information to enhance security accountability across the state.
