The dual operational victories, which unfolded in the volatile Kankara and Malumfashi Local Government Areas of the state, resulted in the safe rescue of 11 abducted bus passengers and the complete recovery of 25 rustled cows.

The first critical encounter ignited on Monday evening at approximately 8:45 p.m. when the Divisional Police Officer of the Kankara Division received an urgent distress call revealing that heavily armed bandits had erected an illegal roadblock along the Sheme-Kankara Highway at Kakumi Village.
The criminal gang had successfully intercepted an unregistered Toyota Hiace transit bus that was conveying 11 commercial passengers toward Kano State, forcefully abducting every single occupant on board. Acting without delay, a heavily armed team of police operatives led personally by the DPO mobilized directly to the ambush site and immediately engaged the fleeing bandits in a ferocious gun duel. Outgunned and completely overwhelmed by the superior, targeted firepower of the advancing police team, the criminal elements abandoned all 11 hostages unhurt and scattered deep into the surrounding forests to escape capture.
Barely five minutes later, at about 8:50 p.m. the exact same night, the command’s emergency lines lit up again with a separate distress alert indicating that another faction of armed bandits had violently breached Badawa Village within the Malumfashi Local Government Area, driving away 25 valuable cows belonging to local farmers.
The DPO of the Malumfashi Division instantly deployed heavily armed Armoured Personnel Carrier patrol teams to cordon off the area, successfully intercepting the rustlers along a dark escape route on the outskirts of the settlement. Following a brief but intense exchange of gunfire, the bandits once again fractured under intense tactical pressure, abandoning the entire herd of 25 cows before fleeing blindly into the wilderness.
Following the successful conclusion of both operations, the police command confirmed that all 25 recovered cattle were safely documented and returned to their rightful owners, while local security frameworks were immediately reinforced with continuous, aggressive surveillance patrols.
