NDC Closes Sale of Presidential Forms, Extends Other Primaries Timelines

The Nigeria Democratic Congress has announced the closure of the sale of Expression of Interest Presidential Forms for aspirants seeking the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made in Abuja on Monday in a statement signed by the party’s National Secretary, Ikenna Enekweizu.

According to the party, the sale of presidential forms has officially ended, while the deadline for collection of Expression of Interest Forms for Governorship, Senate, House of Representatives, and State Houses of Assembly has been extended from May 17 to May 24, 2026.

The party further disclosed that screening of all presidential aspirants who have purchased and completed their forms will commence on Tuesday and run through May 26, 2026. Details of the process and updates are expected to be managed through official channels on the party’s website.

It also stated that the collection and submission of Nomination Forms for all screened and cleared aspirants will begin on Wednesday and close on May 26, 2026, with no further extension expected beyond the deadline.

The party directed all aspirants to appear for screening and pre-qualification interviews at designated venues nationwide, with required documents including educational certificates, birth certificate or age declaration, passport photographs, voter identification card, NDC membership card, and curriculum vitae. Each document must be submitted in six copies.

The screening process, according to the party, will consider voter sentiment, local dynamics, competence, experience, and character of aspirants.

It also noted that the Screening Committee will factor in the party’s affirmative action policy, ensuring representation for women, youths, and persons living with disabilities.

The party encouraged aspirants to consider consensus-building where possible, stressing that only candidates cleared through screening will be eligible to proceed to the nomination stage.
