ADC Primaries: Former governors Liyel Imoke and Abdulfatah Ahmed appointed to lead presidential primary committees ahead of party primaries, pledging transparency and internal democracy.
The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has appointed former governors Liyel Imoke and Abdulfatah Ahmed to lead key committees for its presidential primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The appointments were announced on Monday in Abuja by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi.
According to Abdullahi, Imoke will serve as Chairman of the Presidential Screening Committee, while Ahmed will head the Presidential Election Committee as chairman.
Members of the Presidential Screening Committee include Cyril Maduabum as Secretary, alongside Alhaji Lawal Batagarawa, Prof. Bode Ayorinde, Nnena Elendu-Ukeje, Prof. David Salifu, and retired Col. Abubakar Ciroma.
The Presidential Election Committee has Prof. Yisa Gana as Secretary, with retired Maj.-Gen. Adamu Jalingo, Dr. Auwalu Anwar, Chief Emenike Ikechi, Dr. Macaulay Iyare, Tajudeen Bakare, and others serving as members.
The party also inaugurated a Presidential Appeal Committee chaired by Dr. Suleiman Usman, SAN, with Ken Imasuagbon serving as Secretary and Dare Okerade as member.
For the governorship primaries, the ADC constituted two separate screening panels. The first panel is chaired by Shaibu Aruwa, SAN, with Femi Olawuyi as Secretary. Other members include Lauretta Onochie, Dr. Vivian Ugochukwu, Akilu Indabawa, Ibrahim Wali, and Prof. Rabiu Bello.
The second governorship screening panel will be chaired by Mrs. Justina Abanida, while Chille Igbawua serves as Secretary. Members include Gerrard Irona, Sen. Yisa Braimoh, Hassan Ibrahim, Joseph Enemali, and retired Navy Capt. Aliyu Ngolmo.
The party also approved two governorship appeals committees. The first committee is chaired by P.I. Oyewole, Esq, with Abdulhakeen Ibrahim as Secretary and Adah Usman as member.
The second committee is chaired by M.E. Sheriff, Esq, with Realwan Okpanachi serving as Secretary and Hassan Yakubu as member.
Abdullahi said the committees were carefully constituted to guarantee transparency, credibility, fairness, and internal democracy throughout the conduct of the ADC primaries.
