Police detain three suspects in Kogi over the alleged killing of a young graduate, recover stolen tricycle and motorcycles during intelligence-led operation.

The Nigeria Police Force in Kogi State has detained three suspects linked to the killing of a young graduate and recovered his stolen tricycle.

Command spokesperson, ASP Afusat Saliu, disclosed this in a statement issued Wednesday in Lokoja.

She said the suspects were arrested during a coordinated intelligence-led operation on March 25 at Otokiti Estate, Lokoja.

According to Saliu, two of the suspects allegedly posed as construction workers, lured the victim to a secluded area, killed him using a shovel and stole his tricycle.

She added that the victim’s family reported him missing on March 18 after he left home with his tricycle. His body was later discovered on March 19 around CBN Zone 8, Lokoja.

Saliu explained that investigations led to the arrest of the two suspects, who allegedly confessed to the crime and revealed they sold the tricycle to a third suspect.

The police recovered the stolen tricycle alongside four other motorcycles from the third suspect in Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area.

Further investigation, she said, revealed that the suspects were ex-convicts previously linked to several murder and armed robbery cases.

Saliu added that the suspects have been charged to court and assured the public of the command’s commitment to rid the state of crime.

She also said the Commissioner of Police, Naziru Bello Kankarofi, commended the operatives for their diligence and urged residents to remain vigilant.
