Kano Firefighters save four lives and property worth N1bn in March, while five deaths and N355m losses were recorded during emergency incidents across the state.

The Kano State Fire Service says it rescued four persons and saved property worth N1 billion during emergency operations in March.

Director of the service, Alhaji Sani Anas, disclosed this in a statement issued by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, on Wednesday in Kano.

According to the statement, five people lost their lives to fire outbreaks, road accidents and incidents involving ponds within the period.

The service also reported that property worth N1 billion was saved, while property valued at N355 million was destroyed by fire during the month under review.

“The service responded to seven emergency calls and three false alarms from residents of the state,” the statement said.

The agency urged shop owners and residents to install fire detectors and adopt safety measures to prevent fire outbreaks.
