Kebbi Assembly Speaker Usman-Zuru dies in Egypt while receiving medical treatment, with the state government expected to announce burial arrangements and official condolences.

The Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Mohammed Usman-Zuru, has died in Cairo, Egypt, where he was receiving medical treatment.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi by his spokesperson, Murtala Adamu-Diri.

According to the statement, Usman-Zuru died Monday evening while undergoing treatment abroad.

“The late Speaker, who represented Zuru Constituency in the state assembly, was a prominent political figure from the Zuru Emirate and Speaker of the 10th Kebbi House of Assembly.

“His death is a huge loss to his constituents, the state legislature, and the political community in Kebbi State and Nigeria at large,” the statement said.

The statement added that details of burial arrangements and official condolences would be announced by the Kebbi State Government and the family of the deceased in due course.
