Wike Vows Bold PDP Rebuild To Revive Party And Meet Nigerians’ Aspirations

Nyesom Wike says the PDP will be rebuilt to reflect the yearnings of Nigerians, urging unity, inclusiveness and renewed commitment at the party’s 10th Elective National Convention in Abuja.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will be rebuilt to meet the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians.

Wike, a PDP national leader, made the declaration at the party’s 10th Elective National Convention held in Abuja on Sunday, stressing that the party must return to its foundational ideals as a people-driven platform.

He noted that rebuilding the PDP would require the creation of legitimate channels through which the voices of Nigerians would be heard, while emphasizing inclusiveness, unity and renewal as core pillars for the party’s future.

“Together with all and sundry across all the nooks and crannies of our country, we shall rebuild our party in such a way that it will meet the yearnings and aspirations of the generality of Nigerians,” Wike said.

He called on members and former allies to return and participate in rebuilding the party, assuring that no one would be excluded and that equal opportunities would be provided for all members to serve.

According to the minister, the convention represented a gathering of committed party faithful who remained loyal despite the leadership crisis that threatened the PDP’s survival. He said members stood firm under the party’s umbrella and resisted forces promoting ethnic and geographical divisions.

Wike stated that the party’s loyalists helped restore internal democracy and returned the PDP to its “rightful owners,” describing the development as a major milestone in the party’s recovery.

He commended party members for their resilience, noting that they remained steadfast even when critics predicted the collapse of the PDP.

“Together, we are standing on the positive side of history with renewed energy, vision and purpose, more united and committed to the task of making Nigeria a truly prosperous country,” he said.

The minister also praised grassroots members for their loyalty, saying they resisted pressure to defect despite political uncertainty and remained committed to the party’s growth.

Speaking on governors who left the PDP, Wike criticized their actions, describing them as lacking leadership character, and urged them to return their mandates to the party. He warned against political actors who abandon platforms during crises but seek leadership positions afterward.

Wike reiterated that the PDP’s rebuilding process would focus on unity, discipline and collective vision, aimed at repositioning the party as a credible alternative capable of delivering prosperity for Nigerians.
