A train incident on the Abuja–Kaduna Railway Line caused panic among passengers after the service abruptly halted midway, leaving several people injured.
Several passengers sustained injuries on Monday morning following an incident involving a train operating on the Abuja–Kaduna Railway Line, forcing a temporary disruption of services along the busy corridor.
The passenger train, which departed Kaduna and was headed for Abuja, was unable to complete its journey after the disturbance occurred midway along the route linking Kaduna State with the Federal Capital Territory.
Passengers on board said the situation unfolded suddenly, triggering panic inside the coaches when the train abruptly halted during the journey.
Some travellers reported hearing a loud impact moments before the train jerked violently to a stop, causing several passengers to lose balance.
The sudden disruption left a number of passengers with varying degrees of injuries.
A source within the Nigerian Railway Corporation confirmed that the incident occurred but noted that details were still being assessed at the time of reporting.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak publicly, said relevant authorities were already evaluating the situation.
Railway authorities are expected to release further clarification on the circumstances surrounding the incident as investigations continue.
The Abuja–Kaduna rail corridor remains one of Nigeria’s busiest passenger routes, serving thousands of commuters travelling between Abuja and Kaduna daily.
