Leaders of the UAE and Saudi Arabia have urged de-escalation and diplomacy as regional tensions intensify following recent military developments in the Middle East.
The President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, have discussed escalating regional tensions during a phone conversation.
According to media reports on Monday, both leaders expressed concern over the growing security situation in the Middle East and emphasised the need for restraint.
During the call, the two leaders stressed the importance of halting further military escalation, warning that continued confrontations could threaten stability across the region and beyond.
They underscored the need to prioritise dialogue and diplomatic engagement in addressing ongoing disputes and maintaining regional peace.
Both sides also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting efforts aimed at preserving security and preventing a wider conflict.
Regional tensions have increased following the outbreak of U.S.–Israeli strikes on Iran (February 28, 2026), which triggered a wave of retaliatory attacks across parts of the Gulf.
Since the incident, Gulf states have reportedly faced multiple missile and drone attacks targeting strategic locations.
Authorities in the United Arab Emirates say the country has intercepted more than 1,500 drones since the escalation began.
Security analysts say the development highlights the fragile security environment in the Middle East and the growing risks of wider regional confrontation.
