The Oyo State Government has approved the release of N900 million as counterpart funding for the construction and rehabilitation of 68 kilometres of roads across the state.

The Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mr Dotun Oyelade, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Ibadan. He said the approval was granted during the weekly meeting of the State Executive Council.

According to Oyelade, the counterpart funding will enable the state to access N16.7 billion in support from the International Development Association and the Agence Francaise de Developpement.

He listed the road projects to include the rehabilitation of the 8.43-kilometre Fashola Farm Settlement road; the 37-kilometre Alako/Idi-Iya/Batake/Olowa Farm Settlement, Ijaye road; and the 22-kilometre Oloko/Oyo Junction and Ikere Dam road.

In addition to the roads funding, the council approved N2.6 billion for the improvement and maintenance of the Light-Up Oyo State infrastructure project for the 2026 fiscal year. The initiative, initially focused on Ibadan metropolis, has now expanded to other parts of the state.

The council also approved an upward review of the contract sum for the Oyo State Business Process Automation (BPA) project, increasing it from N400 million to N578 million to reflect current economic conditions.

Oyelade said the BPA project is designed to streamline civil service operations, strengthen record management, and improve accountability across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

He added that the project will enhance the speed and quality of public service delivery while building technical capacity within the civil service to ensure long-term sustainability of the digital system.
