The Police Command in Anambra has intensified patrols and upgraded intelligence operations to strengthen Security across schools and churches in the state.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer, said in a Sunday statement in Awka that the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, had ordered Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Teams to scale up surveillance and adopt proactive strategies to prevent emerging threats.

Ikenga said the commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, stressing that the police would continue adjusting their Security approach to address evolving risks while maintaining the peace already established across the state.

He added that Orutugu commended residents for their growing vigilance and cooperation, stating that community support had played a key role in sustaining stability and reinforcing overall Security in Anambra.

The renewed measures follow a series of attacks and kidnappings by suspected bandits targeting schools and churches in parts of Northern Nigeria and the South West.
