Enugu State Government Issues Final Demolition Notice for Road Expansion Projects

The Enugu State Government has issued a final demolition notice to property owners, residents, and businesses along key road expansion corridors. The affected areas include the 44.1km Nike Lake Road dualization project, covering Peenox – Nowas – Ugwogo – Opi Nsukka, and the 21.5km Enugu Airport Road Flyover Bridge – Eke Obinagu – Owo Junction – Amechi Idodo – Ebonyi State Border. The demolition of marked structures is set to commence within 24 hours.
Ngozi Ngene, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, confirmed the development, emphasizing that this notice follows an earlier announcement issued on October 30, 2024. She noted that a thorough field inspection and evaluation for compensation purposes had been conducted between November 4 and November 11, 2024.
The state government has urged all affected individuals to vacate the marked premises immediately and remove their belongings to prevent loss of property or potential harm. The notice underscores the government’s commitment to infrastructure development while ensuring due process in property evaluations.
For any concerns or inquiries, affected persons are advised to contact the Land/Property Reconciliation and Compensation Committee at the Abuja Building, Government House, Enugu. The government assures that compensation matters will be handled appropriately.
