As Governor Alex Otti marks the first anniversary in office, the Group Managing Director of Geometric Power, Mrs. Agatha Nnaji, has commended him for his dedication to collaboration with the private sector to accelerate the development of Abia State.
“Governor Otti came prepared to work as the Abia governor,” Mrs. Nnaji remarked in an interview with journalists in her office this morning. She highlighted Otti’s extensive experience, having served as the Executive Director of Nigeria’s oldest bank and later as the Managing Director of Diamond Bank, which she noted as crucial in understanding the dynamics of a private sector-led economy.
“The private sector is more effective and efficient in running businesses,” Mrs. Nnaji emphasized, underscoring Otti’s recognition of the private sector as key partners in progress. “Consequently, he has been the greatest cheerleader of the private sector,” she added, affirming the importance of such collaboration.
Governor Otti’s proactive efforts in creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the state were lauded by Mrs. Nnaji. She cited the construction of a road leading to the headquarters of the Geometric Power Group in the Osisioma Industrial Layout, Aba, just before its commissioning by Vice President Kashim Shettima on February 26, 2024, as a tangible example of Otti’s commitment to infrastructure development.
Highlighting the energy sector, Mrs. Nnaji revealed Governor Otti’s endeavours to ensure Geometric Power’s access to natural gas, vital for providing uninterrupted, quality, and affordable electricity to nine of the 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Abia State serviced by Aba Power, a member of the Geometric Power consortium.
“The only obstacle to the supply of constant power to these places is insufficient gas from the suppliers,” Mrs. Nnaji lamented, identifying gas availability as a critical factor in ensuring reliable power supply. However, she expressed optimism that with continued support from the people and government of Abia State, led by Governor Otti, these challenges would be addressed in due course.
Mrs. Nnaji concluded by urging the people of Abia to continue supporting the state administration, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in driving sustainable development initiatives forward. GMTNewsng
